Are you hurting your teeth and gums by using an abrasive toothpaste?
The American Dental Association along with various academic, industry and government agencies established a standardized scale called Relative Dentin Abrasivity (RDA). You might be using an abrasive toothpaste without even knowing it. Charcoal and whitening toothpastes are the worst offenders. Abrasive toothpastes can cause you to brush away enamel; making your teeth weaker and may erode your gums causing gum recession. We generally recommend any of the Sensodyne toothpastes to most of our patients because they have a low RDA. If you have any questions please reach out to us directly. Vaccines
We are excited to say all of our clinicians, but one (she is scheduled for next week!) has received both vaccine doses.
Link between COVID and Gum Disease
There is very strong literature supporting the link between gum disease and heart disease. As we know, both are inflammatory diseases. The same is true with COVID. We want to encourage you to have a diligent oral hygiene, which is most commonly aided by a proper routine. We want to encourage you to maintain your normal dental hygiene appointments or to try to get back on track. We are seeing many of our patients who have suffered from not receiving their regular visits. We are also meeting with patients virtually to review your at-home regimen and go over the products you use to ensure you are doing the best you can.
